Nicolas Boukhrief
Nicolas Boukhrief, born on June 4, 1963, is a distinguished French screenwriter, director, and actor. Boukhrief began his professional journey in journalism, where he made a significant impact in the realm of cinema. In 1990, he launched the Newspaper of the Cinema on Canal+, serving as the chief writer until 1993. His expertise in film programming led him to become a programming advisor for cinema content on the channel. Since January 1997, he has been the programmer and host of My Film Club on Canal+, showcasing his passion for film to a wider audience.
In collaboration with Richard Grandpierre, Boukhrief co-led Canal Plus Écriture, further solidifying his influence in the film industry. He also oversees Eskwad production, a department he has been part of since 1997. His early career included a formative stint as an assistant to the renowned director Andrzej Żuławski from 1985 to 1987. Boukhrief’s writing prowess is evident in his contributions to notable films, including co-writing the screenplay for Jean-Jacques Zilbermann's Not Everybody's Lucky Enough to Have Communist Parents and Mathieu Kassovitz's Assassin(s). His body of work reflects a deep commitment to cinema, earning him recognition as a key figure in French filmmaking.
