Vilma Santos
Rosa Vilma Tuazon Santos-Recto, born on November 3, 1953, is a multi-talented Filipina known for her extensive work as an actress, singer, dancer, television host, producer, and politician. Since 2016, she has served as the Representative for Batangas' 6th district and has held the position of House Deputy Speaker since 2019.
Vilma's illustrious acting career began in the early 1960s when she made her film debut as a child in "Trudis Liit," earning her first FAMAS Award for Best Child Performer. She later received the FAMAS Award for Best Actress for her remarkable dual role in "Dama de Noche" in 1972. Renowned for her portrayal of the iconic superhero Darna, she starred in four films, beginning with "Lipad, Darna, Lipad!" in 1973. Her production of "Pagputi ng Uwak, Pag-itim ng Tagak" in 1978 garnered both the FAMAS Award for Best Picture and the Gawad Urian for Best Film.
Affectionately dubbed the "Star for All Seasons," Vilma has excelled in diverse film genres and is celebrated as the Grand Slam Queen, Queen of Queens, and the Longest Reigning Box Office Queen in Philippine cinema history. In 2013, she was honored at the Toronto International Film Festival, where a foreign critic referred to her as the Grand Dame of the Philippine Film Industry, marking her as the first Filipina actress to earn such recognition.
