Lawrence Alan "Larry" Kasanoff, born on June 1, 1959, is a notable American filmmaker recognized for his significant contributions to the film industry. In 1986, he established Lightning Pictures, a genre-focused subsidiary of Vestron Pictures, and went on to create Lightstorm Entertainment in collaboration with acclaimed director James Cameron in 1990. Kasanoff further expanded his production ventures by founding Threshold Entertainment in 1993.

Among Kasanoff's most prominent works is the beloved Mortal Kombat film series, which includes the original 1995 Mortal Kombat, its sequel Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, and the animated spin-offs Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm and Mortal Kombat: Conquest. He also took on the role of executive producer for the 2021 reboot of the franchise, showcasing his lasting impact on this iconic brand.

Beyond the Mortal Kombat series, Kasanoff's production credits extend to films like Blood Diner, Blue Steel, and the blockbuster True Lies.
