Mary Mendum, born on February 21, 1952, in a modest family near Chicago, embarked on her acting journey in the early 1970s. Her initial foray into the arts was through stage productions directed by her then-boyfriend, Michael Butler, including notable works like "Hair" and "Lenny." Mendum transitioned to film, taking on minor roles in adult films directed by Chuck Vincent and gracing the pages of various well-known men's magazines with nude photo layouts. However, her most significant cult status emerged from her captivating performance as Anne in Radley Metzger's 1975 film, The Image.

Throughout the mid-1970s, Mary showcased her talent in leading roles, often portraying complex, frustrated characters in several acclaimed softcore films by Joseph W. Sarno, including Confessions of a Young American Housewife (1974), Laura's Toys (1975), and Abigail Lesley Is Back in Town (1975). Her versatility shone through in the comedic role of Dr. Shirley Jekyll and her uninhibited counterpart, Sherry Hyde, in the playful film The Switch or How to Alter Your Ego (1974). Beyond her cinematic contributions, Mary was also an accomplished cook and seamstress. Nevertheless, she chose to retire from acting in 1977.

Tragically, Mary Mendum passed away on July 17, 2012, in Boca Raton, FL, after an accidental drowning following a fall.
