1 title Acting May 28, 1884 Died: Nov 04, 1972 Skodsborg, Denmark

Johannes Meyer, a strikingly handsome and tall Danish actor with blonde hair, was born in 1884. After completing his education at Gymnasium, he faced initial setbacks in his career, applying twice to the Royal Theatre School only to be turned away on both occasions. Undeterred, Meyer made his theatrical debut at the Dagmarteatret in Copenhagen in 1905, quickly establishing himself across nearly every stage in the city.

His film career began in earnest with his debut role as Erneste des Tressailles in Viggo Larsen's 1909 production, 'Revolutionsbryllup,' produced by Nordist Film Co. Over the years, Meyer appeared in over 100 films, but he was particularly celebrated for his performance as Viktor Frandsen in Carl Theodor Dreyer's acclaimed 1925 film 'Master of the House.'

Throughout the 1930s and beyond, Meyer primarily took on character and supporting roles in numerous talkies, culminating in his final film appearance as Bilvis in Gabriel Axel's 'Hagbard and Signe' in 1967. Besides his film work, he contributed to radio and television dramas and served as a stage director at Fonixteatret and Nørrebros Theatre before joining the Royal Theatre in 1941. Johannes Meyer passed away in Denmark in 1972 at the age of 88, leaving behind a rich legacy in Danish performing arts.
