Pedro Aznar

Pedro Aznar, born on July 23, 1959, is a distinguished Argentine musician and singer-songwriter whose career spans several genres, including jazz, Argentine folk, and rock music. Renowned for his unique ability to infuse rock with a jazz sensibility, Aznar's innovative use of the fretless bass draws significant inspiration from the legendary Jaco Pastorius.

Aznar is not only a versatile musician but also an accomplished poet, having published several poetry collections in Argentina. His contribution to Argentine rock began in the mid-1970s, where he performed with notable bands such as Madre Atómica, ALAS, and Pastoral. His career took a pivotal turn in 1978 when he became a member of Serú Girán, a band that emerged as one of the most influential forces in the Argentine rock scene during the late 1970s and early 1980s.

In 1982, Aznar expanded his musical horizons by accepting an invitation from celebrated guitarist Pat Metheny to join The Pat Metheny Group. His collaboration with the group resulted in the production of three albums that garnered Grammy Awards, solidifying his reputation on an international scale.
