Ayanna Pressley
Ayanna Soyini Pressley, born on February 3, 1974, is a prominent American politician who has represented Massachusetts's 7th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2019. Her district encompasses the northern three-quarters of Boston, along with significant portions of Cambridge, Milton, and the entirety of Chelsea, Everett, Randolph, and Somerville.
Prior to her congressional role, Pressley made history as the first black woman elected to the Boston City Council, serving from 2010 to 2019. In a significant political upset, she won the Democratic primary in 2018 against long-serving incumbent Mike Capuano, subsequently running unopposed in the general election. This victory marked her as the first black woman to represent Massachusetts in Congress.
