Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton, born on October 26, 1947, is a prominent American politician known for her extensive career in public service. She was a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination during the 2016 election. Clinton held the position of the 67th United States Secretary of State from 2009 until 2013. Prior to that, she represented New York as a United States Senator from 2001 to 2009. She is also well-known as the spouse of Bill Clinton, the 42nd President of the United States, serving as First Lady from 1993 to 2001.

Originally from the Chicago region, Hillary Rodham graduated from Wellesley College in 1969, where she notably became the first student to deliver a commencement speech. She furthered her education by obtaining a J.D. from Yale Law School in 1973. After working as a congressional legal advisor, she relocated to Arkansas and married Bill Clinton in 1975. In 1977, she co-founded Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families and made history as the first female chair of the Legal Services Corporation in 1978. Additionally, she became the first woman partner at Rose Law Firm in 1979. While serving as First Lady of Arkansas from 1979 to 1981 and again from 1983 to 1992, she spearheaded educational reforms in the state's public school system and held positions on the boards of major corporations, including Wal-Mart.
