Athina Rachel Tsangari is a prominent Greek filmmaker known for her innovative contributions to cinema. Born in Athens, Greece, she has crafted a unique niche in the film industry with her thought-provoking feature films, including *The Slow Business of Going* (2000), *Attenberg* (2010), and *Chevalier* (2015). Tsangari has also collaborated with acclaimed director Yorgos Lanthimos on several notable projects, such as *Kinetta* (2005), *Dogtooth* (2009), and *Alps* (2011), showcasing her ability to blend artistic vision with compelling narratives.

An advocate for short films, she established and directed the Cinematexas International Short Film Festival, which has provided a platform for emerging filmmakers. Tsangari's academic contributions are equally impressive; she was a Visiting Lecturer at Harvard University’s Visual and Environmental Studies department from 2014 to 2015, where she shared her expertise in art, film, and visual studies.

With a solid educational background, Tsangari earned her degree from the Faculty of Philosophy at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, followed by a Master’s in Performance Studies from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and an MFA in Film Directing from the University of Texas at Austin. Her journey in film began with a small role in Richard Linklater's *Slacker* (1991), after which she has continued to thrive in various capacities within the industry.
