Luís Otávio Gabus Mendes, born on December 22, 1960, in São Paulo, is a well-known Brazilian actor with a rich legacy in the entertainment industry. He hails from a prominent family in the arts; he is the grandson of Otávio Gabus Mendes, the son of renowned telenovela writer Cassiano Gabus Mendes, the nephew of actor Luís Gustavo, and the brother of fellow actor Cássio Gabus Mendes.

Gabus Mendes made his television debut in the 1985 telenovela Ti Ti Ti, where he portrayed Alex, one of Jacques Leclair’s sons, played by Reginaldo Faria. His early career included notable performances in classics such as the original version of Sinhá Moça in 1986, where he captivated audiences as José, a young man in love with the enslaved Adelaide, played by Solange Couto.

He continued to collaborate with his father on various projects, including memorable roles in Brega & Chique (1987) as Maurício and Que Rei Sou Eu? (1989), where he played Pichot/Lucien, a role that garnered him significant recognition alongside Cláudia Abreu. His impressive filmography also features Perigosas Peruas (1992) as Paulinho Pamonha and O Mapa da Mina (1993) as Raul Gouveia. Other notable appearances include Fera Radical (1988) as Paxá and Mico Preto (1990) as Adolfo.
