Geneva Mitchell (February 3, 1907 – March 10, 1949) was a prominent American actress known for her vibrant performances in over 70 films from 1929 to 1946. Beginning her career in musical theatre, she captivated audiences as part of the chorus in productions like *Sally* and the iconic *Ziegfeld Follies of 1921* at just 17 years old.
In October 1929, she made a significant leap into the film industry by signing with Warner Brothers, followed by a contract with Columbia Pictures in June 1934. Mitchell's filmography features a range of memorable roles, but she is particularly recognized for her work with the comedic trio, the Three Stooges. Among her notable appearances are the classic films *Restless Knights*, *Pop Goes the Easel*, and especially *Hoi Polloi*, where she played a dance instructor who hilariously directs the Stooges to mimic her movements. A standout moment occurs when a bumblebee lands on her back, prompting a comical chain reaction as the Stooges imitate her startled reactions. This scene became a beloved highlight and was cleverly reused in the later film *In the Sweet Pie and Pie*.
