Hélène Loiselle
Hélène Loiselle was a prominent Canadian actress, celebrated for her contributions to the Quebec theatre and television landscape. Born in Montreal, she honed her craft in the 1940s under the guidance of notable instructors, including Charlotte Boisjoli and François Rozet. Loiselle joined the esteemed theatre company Compagnons de Saint-Laurent, where she showcased her talent in classical works by playwrights such as Jean Giraudoux, Racine, Edmond Rostand, and Shakespeare. Her artistic journey led her to Paris in the early 1950s, where she refined her acting skills before returning to Quebec to star in significant productions including Chekhov's *Three Sisters*, *Uncle Vanya*, and *Antigone*, as well as *Victor ou les Enfants au pouvoir*.
In recognition of her outstanding performances, Loiselle was awarded a Prix Gémeaux in 1995 for her role in the acclaimed television drama *Sous un ciel variable*. She also became a beloved figure among younger audiences by portraying various witches in the cherished children's series *Fanfreluche* on Radio Canada.
In 2006, she was honored with the Prix Denise-Pelletier, acknowledging her lasting impact on the performing arts. Loiselle was married to comedian Lionel Villeneuve until his passing in 2000. After a long battle with Alzheimer's disease, she passed away at the age of 85, leaving behind a rich legacy in Canadian theatre and television.
