Dirk Werner Nowitzki, born on June 19, 1978, is a celebrated German basketball player renowned for his tenure with the Dallas Mavericks in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He honed his skills at Röntgen Gymnasium and the DJK Würzburg basketball club before entering the NBA in 1998, where he was selected as the ninth overall pick by the Milwaukee Bucks and immediately traded to the Mavericks, where he has remained ever since. Standing at 7 feet (2.13 meters), Nowitzki showcases versatility as a power forward, capable of also playing center or small forward, and is widely regarded as one of the all-time greats at his position.

During his illustrious career, Nowitzki has guided the Mavericks to 12 consecutive playoff appearances from 2001 to 2012, culminating in the franchise's inaugural Finals appearance in 2006 and securing their first championship title in 2011. His accolades include 11 All-Star selections, 12 All-NBA Team honors, and the distinction of being the first European-born player to earn the NBA Most Valuable Player Award.
