Christopher Heyerdahl
Christopher Heyerdahl, born on September 18, 1963, in British Columbia, Canada, is a distinguished actor celebrated for his diverse roles across television and film. With Norwegian and Scottish ancestry, he has a rich cultural background; his father immigrated from Norway in the 1950s, and he is a distant cousin to the famed explorer Thor Heyerdahl. Fluent in Norwegian, Heyerdahl expanded his education at the University of Oslo.
Heyerdahl is particularly recognized for his compelling portrayal of "Swede" in AMC's acclaimed series Hell on Wheels, which premiered as one of the network's highest-rated original shows. His impressive television repertoire includes roles as Leonid in Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Halling and Wraith commander Todd in Stargate Atlantis, and Zor-El in Smallville. He also made memorable appearances as Alastair in Supernatural, John Druitt and Bigfoot in Sanctuary, and Dieter Braun in True Blood during its fifth season.
In film, Heyerdahl gained significant recognition for his role as Marcus, a member of the Volturi clan in the Twilight Saga, specifically in New Moon and the two-part Breaking Dawn adaptation. His earlier work includes portraying H. P. Lovecraft in Out of Mind: The Stories of H. P. Lovecraft and a punk dealer in Cadavres. Additionally, he showcased his talent on stage as a member of the Young Company at the Stratford Festival in 1989 and 1990.
