Robin Bailey
William Henry Mettam, known as Robin Bailey, was a distinguished English actor born on October 5, 1919, in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire. One of his most notable roles was Mr. Justice Graves in Thames Television's beloved series, "Rumpole of the Bailey."
However, Bailey is perhaps best celebrated for his unforgettable performance as Uncle Mort in the BBC adaptation of Peter Tinniswood's "I Didn't Know You Cared." This charming series, which aired from 1975 to 1979, depicted the humorous dynamics of an extended Yorkshire family and has since been released on DVD for fans to enjoy. Bailey's portrayal of Uncle Mort resonated with audiences, leading him to reprise this beloved character in a series of radio programs.
