Graham Hill

2 titles Acting Feb 15, 1929 Died: Nov 29, 1975 London, England, UK

Norman Graham Hill (15 February 1929 – 29 November 1975) was a prominent British racing driver and team owner, renowned for being a two-time Formula One World Champion, clinching titles in 1962 and 1968. He also secured the runner-up position three times in 1963, 1964, and 1965. Remarkably, Hill did not obtain his driving license until 1953 at the age of 24, entering motorsport only a year later. He quickly established himself as one of the leading drivers of his era.

Hill is particularly celebrated for achieving the coveted Triple Crown of Motorsport, which he defined as winning the Indianapolis 500, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and the Formula One World Drivers' Championship. Although the definition has evolved to often include the Monaco Grand Prix instead of the World Championship, Hill remains the only driver to have won the Triple Crown, earning the nickname "Mr. Monaco" after his five wins at the prestigious race in the 1960s (1963, 1964, 1965, 1968, 1969).

After a serious accident in 1969 at the United States Grand Prix, which left him with severe injuries, Hill's driving career never reached the same heights again. He founded Embassy Hill in 1973, a team he operated until his untimely death in a plane crash in 1975, which also claimed the lives of five team members.

A beloved television personality in the 1970s, Hill was also proud of his legacy as the first father-son duo in Formula One history, with his son Damon following in his footsteps as a World Champion.
