Bjarne Mädel
Bjarne Ingmar Mädel, born on March 12, 1968, in Hamburg, is a prominent German actor and director known for his versatility in both comedic and dramatic roles. His early life was spent in Reinbek, but he also lived in Nigeria during his teenage years due to his father's work as a civil engineer. Mädel completed his Abitur at Burggymnasium Friedberg and began his career in California, where he took on various jobs, including construction work, while studying world literature and creative writing at the University of Redlands.
Mädel's formal training in the performing arts began at the Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen Potsdam, where he honed his acting skills from 1992 to 1996. He subsequently performed at the Volkstheater Rostock (1996-1999) and was a key ensemble member at Schauspielhaus Hamburg from 2000 to 2005. He gained national recognition for his portrayal of Berthold “Ernie” Heisterkamp in the hit series Stromberg (2004-2005).
In 2009, Mädel starred in his own comedy series, Der kleine Mann, created by Stromberg's Ralf Husmann. He further established his comedic prowess as Heiko “Schotty” Schotte in Der Tatortreiniger (2011-2018), a unique series about a crime scene cleaner. His work in television extends to voice acting, as he participated in various audiobooks and dubbing projects, including the comedy thriller Sightseers. In 2020, he directed and starred in the NDR film Sörensen hat Angst, showcasing his multifaceted talent. Mädel resides in Berlin and is an avid supporter of Hamburger SV, a passion reflected in his character Schotty.
