Bob Hite
Bob Hite, Sr. (February 9, 1914 – February 18, 2000) was a prominent American radio and television announcer, voice-over artist, and news anchor, whose career spanned several decades and left an indelible mark on the broadcasting industry. Born in Decatur, Indiana, Hite launched his announcing journey in the 1930s at WXYZ in Detroit, Michigan. His voice became synonymous with classic radio shows, including iconic programs such as The Lone Ranger, The Green Hornet, The Shadow, and Challenge of the Yukon, captivating audiences with his engaging storytelling.
Throughout his career, Hite's talent and dedication earned him recognition as a skilled professional in the field. He was not only a pioneer in radio but also transitioned successfully to television, where he continued to showcase his exceptional announcing abilities.
Hite's legacy extended to his family; his son, Bob Hite, Jr., served as the senior anchor at WFLA-TV in Tampa-St. Petersburg, Florida, from 1977 until his retirement in November 2007. Additionally, one of his daughters, Cindy Hite, followed in her father's footsteps and made her mark in radio news, currently hosting at Legends Radio 100.3 FM in Palm Beach County, Florida. Bob Hite, Sr. passed away in West Palm Beach, Florida, but his contributions to the world of broadcasting continue to resonate with audiences today.
