Dina Pathak

Dina Pathak, born Dina Gandhi on March 4, 1922, was a distinguished actor and director renowned for her contributions to Gujarati theatre and Indian cinema. Her prolific career, which spanned over six decades, saw her appear in more than 120 films, making her a prominent figure in both Hindi and Gujarati film industries. Pathak was also an advocate for women's rights, serving as the President of the National Federation of Indian Women (NIFW).

Among her most celebrated performances, she gained widespread acclaim in Hindi films such as "Gol Maal" and "Khubsoorat." Her talent shone brightly in the realm of art cinema, where she portrayed compelling characters in films like "Koshish," "Umrao Jaan," "Mirch Masala," and "Mohan Joshi Hazir Ho!."

Pathak's influence extended to Gujarati cinema, with notable works including "Moti Ba," "Malela Jeev," and "Bhavani Bhavai." Additionally, her theatrical repertoire featured acclaimed plays such as "Dinglegar," "Doll's House," "Vijan Sheni," and Girish Karnad's "Hayavadana," which was directed by the esteemed Satyadev Dubey. One of her hallmark productions, "Mena Gurjari," showcased the Bhavai folk theatre style and became a staple in the theatrical landscape.
