Simone Johanna Maria Simons, a prominent Dutch singer-songwriter, is best known as the lead vocalist for the symphonic metal band Epica. Born on January 17, 1985, in Hoensbroek, Netherlands, she developed a passion for music at a young age. Growing up alongside her younger sister Janneke, who shares her birthday, Simons began her musical journey by learning the flute at the age of 12 after enrolling in music school.
By 14, she ventured into pop singing lessons, but it was at 15, after discovering Nightwish's acclaimed album "Oceanborn," that she transitioned to classical vocals.
