Michael Ruud

Michael Ruud (October 7, 1944 - September 21, 1999) was a distinguished American character actor known for his versatile performances across both theater and film. He earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Utah, which laid the foundation for his artistic career. Ruud served his country as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1969, an experience that shaped his character and resilience.

Transitioning to the performing arts after his military service, Ruud made a significant mark in the entertainment industry. One of his standout roles was portraying "Big Al Gateway" in the cult classic Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988). In this installment of the iconic horror franchise, Ruud’s character boldly confronted the infamous Michael Myers while striving to safeguard the Lloyd sisters, a performance that left a lasting impression on audiences.

Throughout his career, Ruud was recognized for his ability to embody complex characters, earning respect from both peers and fans alike. Tragically, he passed away on September 27, 1999, from a severe stroke in Murray, Utah.
