Tammy Suzanne Green Baldwin, born on February 11, 1962, is a distinguished American politician and attorney who has represented Wisconsin as the junior United States senator since 2013. A prominent figure in the Democratic Party, Baldwin embarked on her political career in the Wisconsin State Assembly, where she served three terms for the 78th district. Following her tenure in the Assembly, she was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Wisconsin's 2nd congressional district from 1999 until 2013. In a notable political achievement, she won her Senate seat in 2012, besting Republican challenger Tommy Thompson, and successfully secured reelection in 2018 against Leah Vukmir. As of April 12, 2023, Baldwin has declared her intention to run for reelection in the 2024 Senate race.

Baldwin made history as the first openly LGBT woman to be elected to the House and the Senate, achieving these milestones in 1999 and 2013, respectively.
