Varut Woratham

Varut Woratham, affectionately known as Oh, was a versatile Thai actor, television host, and model who made a significant impact in the entertainment industry. He gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Kobori, an Imperial Japanese soldier, in the acclaimed 1988 film "Khu Kam." This outstanding performance earned him the prestigious Phra Surasawadi Award, also known as the Golden Doll Award, for Best Upcoming Male Actor.

Throughout his career, Varut showcased his talent in numerous films and television dramas, establishing himself as a prominent figure in Thai entertainment. He also co-hosted the popular variety show "Ono Show," alongside his friend Maethanee "Nino" Buranasiri, further cementing his status as a beloved television personality. In 1992, he was honored with the Golden Television Award for Best Actor for his compelling performance in the drama "Nai Fun."

Despite his initial success, Varut faced personal struggles later in life, including battles with alcoholism and smoking, which led him to seek rehabilitation at least once. Tragically, on September 9, 2018, he was found unconscious at his home in Chiang Mai and was rushed to a local hospital, where he remained in intensive care for two days before passing away on September 11, 2018. Varut is survived by two children, leaving behind a legacy of both talent and challenges.
