R. Parthiban
Radhakrishnan Parthiban, often recognized in the film industry as Ra Parthiepan, is a prominent Indian actor, director, producer, and writer, with a primary focus on Tamil cinema. Over his extensive career, he has appeared in more than 50 films and has helmed nearly 10 as a director. Parthiban is particularly celebrated for his critically acclaimed works, such as *Pudhiya Paadhai* and *Housefull*, as well as his notable performances in films like *Bharathi Kannamma*, *Vetri Kodi Kattu*, *Azhagi*, *Melvilasom*, and *Aayirathil Oruvan*.
His films *Housefull* (1999) and *Pudhiya Paadhai* (1989) both received the prestigious National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil, underscoring his impactful contributions to Indian cinema.
After completing his education in 1979, Parthiban began his career as a short story writer under the pseudonym "Bharathi" in Tamil magazines. He transitioned to film in 1984 when he became the personal assistant to K. Bhagyaraj, eventually working alongside him in over 40 projects until 1991. Parthiban made his acting debut in 1992 with *Pudhiya Padai*, starring opposite Seetha, whom he later married. His catchy song "Ae Kala Kala Kan Adicha Kalakala" from *Devathiyin Paadhangal* heightened his visibility, but it was *Bharathi Kannamma* (1996) that truly launched him to stardom. He earned a National Award for his role in *Housefull* and continued to gain popularity through various films in the late 90s and early 2000s, showcasing his comedic talents alongside actor Vadivel.
