TJ Hassan
TJ Hassan's early life was marked by frequent relocations across various cities around the globe before he ultimately established roots in the United States in 1993. As the middle child in a family of seven, with a father who was a microbiologist and a mother dedicated to home life, TJ’s diverse upbringing shaped his artistic sensibilities. Initially, he carved out a career in corporate management while also engaging with local music scenes through various bands.
In 2007, seeking to conquer his public speaking anxiety stemming from a recent promotion, he enrolled in an improvisational class, which ignited his passion for acting. His theatrical journey began with performances such as the 1997 production of Chicago Cab at the 3rd Space Theatre, followed by joining the Atlanta improv comedy group, Whole World Theatre.
A pivotal moment in his career came in 2008 when he was cast by Tony Award-winning director Jerry Zaks in the biopic Who Do You Love, portraying the legendary blues musician Lonnie Johnson alongside Alessandro Nivola and Chi McBride. The following year, TJ made the bold decision to leave his corporate job to pursue acting full-time. He soon secured a recurring role in the popular Lifetime series Army Wives and appeared in films like Lottery Ticket and For Colored Girls. In 2010, he starred in the Comedy Central series M'larky alongside Dan Fogler, as well as taking on roles in the ABC Family film My Future Boyfriend and the feature film The Change-Up.
