Tony Banks
Anthony George Banks, born on March 27, 1950, is a distinguished English musician, songwriter, and film composer, best recognized as the founding keyboardist of the iconic rock band Genesis. His musical journey also encompasses a successful solo career, during which he has released six albums that traverse diverse genres, including progressive rock, pop, and classical music.
Banks was instrumental in the establishment of Genesis in 1967 while he was a student at Charterhouse School. As a key songwriter and lyricist, he showcased his talents primarily on the Hammond T-102 organ, Mellotron, ARP Pro Soloist, and Yamaha CP-70 piano. In the band's formative years, he occasionally played acoustic guitar on softer, more melodic tracks, further demonstrating his versatility.
His contributions to music have earned him significant recognition. In 2010, Banks was honored with induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Genesis.
