Larry Tucker
Larry Tucker (June 23, 1934 – April 1, 2001) was a distinguished American writer, producer, and occasional actor recognized for his contributions to film and television. He is best known for co-writing the acclaimed comedy Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice (1969) alongside Paul Mazursky, a project that earned them an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay.
Born in Philadelphia, Tucker launched his career in the vibrant San Francisco scene, working with humorist Mort Sahl at the renowned Hungry i club. He transitioned to television writing with The Danny Kaye Show, showcasing his knack for humor and storytelling. In addition to his writing accolades, Tucker appeared in notable films such as Blast of Silence (1961), Advise and Consent (1962), Shock Corridor (1963), and Angels Hard as They Come (1971).
Tucker's collaboration with Mazursky extended to the iconic television series The Monkees and the romantic comedy I Love You, Alice B. Toklas!, featuring Peter Sellers. In the early 1980s, he took on significant roles as both executive producer and writer for several sitcoms, including Jennifer Slept Here (1983), Mr. Merlin (1981–82), Teachers Only (1982–83), and Stir Crazy (1985).
Sadly, Larry Tucker passed away in 2001 due to complications from multiple sclerosis and cancer, leaving behind a legacy of influential work in the entertainment industry.
