Pauline Collins

Pauline Angela Collins, OBE (born 3 September 1940) was a celebrated English actress renowned for her work in theatre, television, and film. Rising to fame in the 1970s, she became a household name for her portrayal of Sarah Moffat in the iconic series *Upstairs, Downstairs* and its spin-off *Thomas & Sarah*.

Collins's remarkable talent was further showcased when she took on the lead role in the acclaimed play *Shirley Valentine*. Her performance earned her prestigious accolades, including the Laurence Olivier Award, Tony Award, and Drama Desk Award. In 1989, she reprised her role in the film adaptation of *Shirley Valentine*, which not only won her a BAFTA but also led to nominations for both a Golden Globe and an Academy Award.
