Aleksandr Belyavskiy
Aleksandr Belyavskiy, born on May 6, 1932, in Moscow, was the son of Boris Moiseevich Belyavskiy and Lyubov Alexandrovna Belyavskaya. He graduated from the geological exploration department of the Moscow Institute of Nonferrous Metals and Gold in 1955. Following his studies, he worked in Irkutsk at the East Siberian Geological Administration, known as "Sosnovgeologia." It was in Irkutsk that Belyavskiy first took the stage in a local amateur theater.
In 1957, he enrolled in the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute, studying under the guidance of V. A. Etush, and graduated in 1961. He began his professional acting career at the Satire Theatre (1961-1964), followed by the Komissarzhevskaya Theatre (1964-1966), and later joined the film actor’s studio theatre in 1966. Belyavskiy was known for his commanding presence and was often cast in complex roles, particularly portraying antagonistic characters.
He gained fame as the first host of the popular television show "Kabachok 13 Stulyev" during the 1960s and 70s and was a familiar face in Polish films. Moreover, he lent his voice to various films during the 1980s, notably becoming the Russian voice of British comedian Benny Hill.
Belyavskiy experienced personal tragedies, including the loss of his son Boris in 1975, and later, his adopted son Andrew, who tragically died at the age of 20. He was married twice, with his second marriage to Lyudmila Tikhonovna yielding two daughters. His artistic legacy is remembered fondly in the Russian theater and film community.
