Antonio Aakeel
Antonio Aakeel is a British actor celebrated for his diverse roles in film and television, particularly recognized for his performances in Tomb Raider (2018), City of Tiny Lights (2016), and the acclaimed mini-series Three Girls (2017).
Born in Wolverhampton, England, to an Indian mother and an English father, Antonio spent his formative years in the West Midlands. He eventually settled in Birmingham, where he pursued his passion for acting, performing extensively in local theater productions. His talent caught the attention of a talent agent when he moved to London, marking the beginning of his professional career.
Aakeel made his debut in the entertainment industry with a significant role in the BAFTA-winning drama series Skins (2007), where he won the part of a character in its third season after competing against over 500 hopefuls in a nationwide casting call. He gained further recognition for his role in City of Tiny Lights (2016), directed by BAFTA laureate Pete Travis, alongside notable actors Riz Ahmed and Billie Piper. His portrayal of Immy in the BBC One mini-series Three Girls (2017) earned him critical acclaim.
His career continued to flourish as he took on leading roles in projects like the comedy feature Eaten by Lions (2017) and the dark Shakespearean adaptation The Hungry (2017) under the direction of Bornila Chatterjee.
