He is most renowned for his influential work, "Saturday Night at the Palace," which was not only a celebrated stage play but also adapted into a feature film in 1987, in which he performed. Slabolepszy played a pivotal role in the establishment of The Space Theatre in 1972, alongside notable figures such as Athol Fugard, Yvonne Bryceland, and John Kani, marking it as South Africa's inaugural non-racial theatre company. His contributions continued as a founding member of the acclaimed Market Theatre in Johannesburg, which he helped launch in 1976 with Mannie Manim and Barney Simon.

In addition to his theatrical achievements, Slabolepszy created the popular SABC2 sitcom "Konsternasie Oppie Stasie," which premiered in July 2009.
