Demet Akbağ

Demet Akbağ, born on December 23, 1959, in Denizli, Turkey, is a celebrated actress renowned for her work in both theatre and film. The third child of Benan and Oktay İybar, Demet hails from a diverse background, with Turkmen roots from her maternal side and Kurdish heritage from her father, who was a journalist and photographer. Following her parents' separation at the age of 13, she relocated to Istanbul with her mother and grandmother.

Akbağ completed her secondary education at Erenköy Girls High School and pursued her passion for the performing arts at the Istanbul Municipal Conservatory, graduating in 1986. She began her acting career in theatre during the early 1980s and made her mark on television in 1987, earning the title of TV Star of the Year from Turkey's Association of Magazine Reporters that same year.

Over the years, Demet Akbağ has received numerous accolades, including the prestigious Golden Butterfly and Sadri Alışık awards for her outstanding performances in the film "Vizontele" and the play "Sen Hiç Ateşböceği Gördün mü?" Her work includes notable television series such as "Bir Demet Tiyatro" and "Ölümsüz Aşk," as well as acclaimed films like "Eyyvah Eyvah" and its sequels. She also starred in "Kış Uykusu," which garnered the prestigious Cannes Award.
