Robert August
Robert August, born in 1945, is a prominent American surfer and surfboard shaper, hailing from Huntington Beach, California. He attended Huntington Beach High School, where he served as the Associated Student Body President during his senior year. August gained widespread recognition as one of the stars of Bruce Brown's iconic 1966 surf documentary, The Endless Summer, alongside his friend Mike Hynson. The film showcased their global surfing adventures during the off-season in California, exploring surf culture and connecting with fellow surfers.
Beginning his surfing journey in the 1950s, a time when the sport was just gaining traction, August was influenced by his father, Blackie August, a respected surfer himself. He has significantly contributed to the sport's evolution over the years, with his surfboards marketed under the Robert August Surfboards brand and produced by Surftech. In 1994, he participated in The Endless Summer II, which revisited the original film's locations, and also appeared in the documentary Step into Liquid, continuing to promote surfing worldwide.
