Bayra Bela
Bayra Bela is a distinguished Mongolian actress known for her commitment to promoting her nation’s culture and film on a global scale. She pursued her Master’s degree in Acting for Screen at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London, thanks to the prestigious Chevening Scholarship. Bela's acting career features notable roles in the Netflix series "Marco Polo," Steven Seagal's film "Attrition," and Christopher Coppola's "Sacred Blood." She has also gained recognition as a leading actress in various films produced in Mongolia. In 2019, she earned the "Best Actress Award" at the 41st International Women Filmmakers Festival in Florence for her compelling performance in "Blue Destiny."
In her efforts to elevate Mongolian cinema, she founded the "Hollywood in Mongolia" International Film Artists Festival in Ulaanbaatar in 2019, with support from the Mongolian President. Bela also published the first official Mongolian translation of Ivana Chubbuck’s "The Power of the Actor," aiming to introduce international acting techniques to her homeland.
Beyond her film career, Bela is a passionate advocate for social and environmental issues. In 2017, she was appointed as the UN REDD+ Eco Ambassador for Mongolia, following a decade of volunteer work with the "My Club" eco-community, which has planted over one million trees to fight climate change. Additionally, she has a rich background in modeling, representing Mongolia in major beauty pageants, including Miss International 2014 and Miss Earth 2015, where she achieved significant recognition. Her historic success at the Miss World pageant in 2016, where she won the Miss Talent and People's Choice Awards, further solidified her status as a leading figure in Mongolian arts and advocacy.
