Padmini (born 12 June 1932 – died 24 September 2006) was a renowned Indian actress and accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer, recognized for her contributions to over 250 films across Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi cinema. Along with her elder sister Lalitha and younger sister Ragini, she was affectionately known as one of the "Travancore sisters."

Originating from Thiruvananthapuram in the erstwhile princely state of Travancore, now part of Kerala, Padmini was the second daughter of Sree Thankappan Pillai and Saraswathi Amma, both hailing from prestigious Nair families. The trio trained in Bharatanatyam under the tutelage of Thiruvidaimarudur Mahalingam Pillai and were further guided by the esteemed Indian dancer Guru Gopinath, mastering Kathakali and Kerala Natanam as well. N.S. Krishnan recognized her potential during a performance of Parijatha Pushpapaharanam in Thiruvananthapuram, predicting her future as an actress, which led to her debut in his production Manamagal.

The Travancore sisters were raised in a traditional joint family in Poojappura, Trivandrum, under the guidance of their matriarch Karthiyayini Amma, while their family included notable figures in the film industry, such as producer Satyapalan Nair. Padmini was among the highest-paid actresses of the 1950s, 60s, and 70s, celebrated not only for her beauty but also for her stunning performances, particularly in classics like Thillana Mohanambal and Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai, the latter propelling her to national fame.
