Simon Yuen Siu-Tien
Yuen Siu-Tien (November 27, 1912 – January 8, 1979), also recognized by names such as Yuan Xiaotian, Simon Yuen, and Sam Seed, was a prominent figure in the realm of martial arts cinema during the late 1970s. His most notable role was that of Beggar So, which he portrayed in three iconic films: *Drunken Master*, *Story of Drunken Master*, and his final appearance in *Dance of the Drunk Mantis*. Yuen's performances garnered significant acclaim, particularly for his work alongside legendary actors such as Jackie Chan and under the direction of his son, Yuen Woo-ping, who would later become a highly influential choreographer and director in the industry.
Beyond his on-screen accomplishments, Yuen Siu-Tien was the patriarch of the Yuen Clan, a family deeply rooted in martial arts and film. His legacy continued through his children, including notable figures like Yuen Woo-ping, Peace Yuen Wo-Ping, and Sunny Yuen Shun-Yi, all of whom have made their own contributions to the cinematic landscape.
