Abdul Khader, immortalized under his screen name Prem Nazir, remains a towering legend in Malayalam cinema, often hailed as its "Nithya Haritha Nayakan" (Ever Green Hero). His extraordinary career is etched in the annals of global film history with two Guinness World Records: starring as the lead in an unparalleled 725 films and sharing the screen with the same heroine, Sheela, in 130 movies. He further set benchmarks by acting opposite 80 different heroines and releasing 39 lead-role films in a single year (1979).
Nazir’s artistry shone brightest in powerful, nuanced performances. Notable works like *Iruttinte Athmavu*, *Kallichellamma*, *Dhwani*, *Murappennu*, *Anubhavangal Paalichakal*, *Padayottam*, *Vida Parayum Munpe*, *Azhakulla Saleena*, and *Nadhi* cemented his reputation as one of Indian cinema’s most accomplished actors.
Beyond the silver screen, he ventured into politics, though without the same success. For his indelible contributions to Indian cinema, the Government of India bestowed upon him the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan, the fourth and third highest civilian honors. Prem Nazir passed away on 16 January 1989 due to complications from measles, leaving behind a legacy of unparalleled dedication and evergreen stardom.
