Joanna Pacula
Joanna Pacula, born on January 2, 1957, is a renowned Polish actress. Her acting journey began at the Warsaw Dramatic Theatre, where she performed until 1981. During this time, she gained valuable experience in productions of classic Shakespearean works, such as Romeo and Juliet, Othello, and As You Like It. Pacula also appeared in several films, including Krzysztof Zanussi's 1977 work, Barwy ochronne, also known as Camouflage.
In 1981, while in Paris, she found herself amidst political turmoil when the Polish communist regime imposed martial law. This situation led her to emigrate to the United States in 1982, where she became known for portraying European seductresses. Her feature film debut came in 1983 alongside William Hurt in Gorky Park. Since then, she has played captivating roles in numerous American television series and films, such as the Holocaust-themed Escape From Sobibor (CBS, 1987), The Kiss (1988), and E.A.R.T.H. Force (CBS, 1990). Additionally, she starred in the ABC series The Colony (1996) and made notable appearances in films like Marked for Death (1990), where she portrayed a voodoo expert, and Tombstone (1993) as the love interest of Doc Holliday. Other works include The Haunted Sea (1997) and Virus (1999), where she played a Russian scientist. Currently, Pacula lives in Southern California.
