Christopher Dane
Christopher Dane is the professional alias of Danish actor Lars Knudsen. He graduated from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) in 2002, earning a BA Honours First and the prestigious Paul McCartney Award, before making his way to London to pursue his acting ambitions.
Dane started his career in Fringe Theatre, landing his first notable role in Phyllida Lloyd’s acclaimed 2006 production of MARY STUART at the Donmar Warehouse. While his theatre roots are strong, his passion for film has led him to establish a distinguished career in the British Film Industry, with an extensive portfolio of feature films and numerous short films to his name.
In 2009, his Scandinavian heritage was showcased in his standout performance as Arathorn, Aragorn's father, in the independent Lord of the Rings prequel BORN OF HOPE, which has garnered over 55 million views online and received a four-star rating from The Guardian’s Wendy Ide, who praised Dane as "genuinely effective" in the role.
Dane won the Best Actor Award at the London Independent Film Festival for his role as John Foster in the comedy-drama BEING SOLD and has earned accolades for the online series Ren – The Girl With the Mark, co-created with director Kate Madison.
His television credits include a debut in the hit BBC series CALL THE MIDWIFE in 2013, as well as appearances in DR WHO, EASTENDERS, and ANNIKA. Notable projects in recent years include the 2020 horror feature THE UNFAMILIAR and the 2023 release of THE YOU RUN. In 2024, he will collaborate once again with director Phil Hawkins for the SKY Original feature ROBIN AND THE HOOD. Looking ahead to 2025, he is excited to voice Flutter, the chaotic penguin, in the anticipated CBBC animated series PIRIPENGUINS.
