Ray Cokes
Raymond Christopher Cokes, born on 24 February 1958, is a prominent English television presenter known for his vibrant personality and engaging hosting style. Growing up in a family with a Royal Navy background, Cokes moved to various locations around the globe before settling in Britain at the age of 15. He later relocated to Belgium at 20, where he began his career as a DJ on local radio, which quickly transitioned to presenting music shows on Belgian national television, including the notable Rox Box in 1982.
Cokes gained significant recognition when MTV Europe launched in 1987, where he became a video jockey. His most notable achievement came between 1992 and 1995 when he hosted the acclaimed live show MTV's Most Wanted, which became a cultural phenomenon and was celebrated for its innovative format and lively atmosphere. The show featured notable performances from music icons, including The Cure, Bjork, and U2, and showcased a dynamic team that included memorable crew personalities.
After leaving MTV, Cokes ventured into various projects, including the once-a-week show X Ray Vision and a single titled "Simply Sexy!" released in 1994 under the name Ray Cokes & the Sex Gods. He also presented the second series of Channel Four's popular 90s show Wanted and hosted En Direct de on France 4 from 2005 to 2009. His career highlights also include serving as the compère for the White Concert in Denmark, celebrating the 40th anniversary of The Beatles' iconic White Album.
