Mark Henry is a prominent American athlete renowned for his remarkable achievements in powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting, strongman competitions, and professional wrestling. Currently signed to WWE, Henry has made a significant impact across multiple sports. As a two-time Olympian, he represented the United States in the 1992 and 1996 Summer Games. His prowess was further showcased at the 1995 Pan American Games, where he earned a Silver, Gold, and Bronze medal.
In the realm of powerlifting, Henry distinguished himself as the drug-free World Champion in 1995 and secured the title of U.S. National Champion twice, in 1995 and 1997. He is celebrated for setting all-time raw world records in both the squat and deadlift, and he continues to hold the WDFPF world records in these disciplines, along with the USAPL American record in the deadlift since 1995. Notably, he achieved the highest raw squat and powerlifting total by a drug-tested athlete across all weight classes, as well as the record for the greatest raw deadlift by an American.
In addition to his powerlifting success, Henry has also excelled in weightlifting, becoming a three-time U.S. National Champion from 1993 to 1996. His strongman accolades include winning the inaugural Arnold Strongman Classic in 2002. Transitioning to professional wrestling with the WWF in 1996, he captured the WWF European Championship and became a two-time world champion, claiming the ECW Championship in 2008 and the World Heavyweight Championship in 2011.
