Frederick Tyrone Edmond Power (May 2, 1869 – December 23, 1931) was a distinguished English actor known professionally as Tyrone Power. With a career that spanned over three decades, Power made a significant mark on both the theatrical stage and the burgeoning film industry.

Beginning his career in theater, Power showcased his talent on Broadway before transitioning to silent films in 1914. He initially starred as the dashing lead in various productions but quickly found success as a compelling villain. One of his notable performances came in 1916 with the groundbreaking film *Where Are My Children?*, directed by the pioneering Lois Weber. That same year, he also featured in *John Needham's Double*, further establishing his cinematic reputation.

Power continued to innovate in film, working with industry giants such as D.W. Griffith, who directed him in the experimental *Dream Street* in 1921. His role in the lavish production *Janice Meredith* (1924) and the bold narrative of *The Red Kimono* (1925) highlighted his versatility and commitment to tackling social issues through his work.

In 1930, Power's final significant role was as the villainous Red Flack in Raoul Walsh's epic *The Big Trail*, which marked his debut in sound films and also launched the career of John Wayne. Tragically, Power passed away from a heart attack in 1931 at the age of 62, leaving behind a legacy that continues to be honored, particularly as he is often referred to as Tyrone Power Sr. to distinguish him from his son, the famed actor Tyrone Power.
