Shawn Stockman
Shawn Patrick Stockman, born on September 26, 1972, is a distinguished American singer, songwriter, and record producer, renowned for his role in the acclaimed R&B group Boyz II Men. Hailing from Southwest Philadelphia, Stockman's musical journey began at the tender age of eight when he joined the Philadelphia Boys Choir & Chorale. His passion for music flourished during his time at the Creative and Performing Arts High School (CAPA), where he met future bandmates and initially performed with them under the name Unique Attraction.
In 1988, Stockman joined Boyz II Men, stepping in after several founding members graduated from high school. Their debut album, *Cooleyhighharmony*, released in 1991 under Motown, propelled them to stardom with chart-topping hits such as "I'll Make Love to You" and "Water Runs Dry." The group’s legacy includes the iconic collaboration "One Sweet Day" with Mariah Carey in 1996, showcasing their signature vocal harmonies, with Stockman contributing his tenor voice.
Beyond Boyz II Men, Stockman was part of Black Men United and wrote and performed "Visions of a Sunset" for the *Mr. Holland's Opus* soundtrack. He also ventured into solo projects, launching his record label, Soul Chemistry Projects, and releasing albums like *Shawn* (2018) and *Forward* (2020). Additionally, he served as a judge on NBC's *The Sing-Off* from 2009 to 2014. Stockman is married to Sharonda Jones and is an honorary member of Phi Beta Sigma, recognized in 2021.
