Michael Obiora

Michael Obiora, born on October 8, 1986, in north-west London to Nigerian-Igbo parents, is a multifaceted British actor, writer, director, and producer. His journey into the arts began at the tender age of six, inspired by his idol Michael Jackson, leading his mother to enroll him in drama classes. Obiora faced considerable challenges during his teenage years, including a serious injury, expulsion from secondary school prior to his GCSEs, and the loss of his father.

His acting career took off at just nine years old when he became the youngest cast member on the beloved children's series *Grange Hill*, portraying Max Abassi for five years. Shortly before turning 18, he secured the role of Gunner Jackson Clarke in ITV's miniseries *Bombshell*. His stage career flourished with standout performances in the award-winning *Elmina's Kitchen* at the Garrick Theatre, followed by leading roles in *Exclude Me*, *Fallout*, *Badnuff*, and *Headstone*.

On television, Obiora has appeared in a variety of notable series, including *My Family*, *Doctor Who* (in the acclaimed episode "Blink"), and *EastEnders*, where he played the charismatic Ellis Prince. He is perhaps best known for his portrayal of the openly gay receptionist Ben Trueman in *Hotel Babylon* (2006–2009) and as nurse Lloyd Asike in *Casualty* (2011–2013). His recent work includes a role in the international crime thriller *Fortitude* (2015) and the film *Hooten & the Lady* (2016).
