The daughter of renowned actor Rolando Brito Rodríguez and esteemed ballet dancer Gertrudis Pestana, her family relocated to Mexico in 2000 when she was just a teenager. In the following year, her father launched a restaurant called La Cubana in Mexico City, specializing in traditional Cuban cuisine. Livia contributed to the family business as a waitress while pursuing her studies in Business Administration.

Her modeling career took off when she represented Mexico in the 2009 Reina Mundial del Banano pageant, where she earned the title of first runner-up and was recognized as Miss Photogenic.
