James Hiroyuki Liao
James Hiroyuki Liao was born on February 6, 1976, in the Bensonhurst neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City. With a Taiwanese father and a Japanese mother, Liao has a rich multicultural background. He pursued advanced studies at the Juilliard School's Drama Division, where he completed his education in 2004, and also honed his craft at the Marjorie Ballentine Studio.
Liao's career spans both film and television, showcasing his versatility as an actor. He has appeared in various productions but is particularly noted for his stage performance as Song Liling in the Arena Stage's rendition of M. Butterfly in Washington, D.C. His talents extend beyond traditional acting, as he also contributed to the video game industry by providing voice and motion-capture work for the character Kenji in the critically acclaimed game Ghost of Tsushima, released in 2020.
