Cynthia Fleming's musical journey began at the tender age of five under the guidance of the esteemed West Texas violinist, Dorothy Croft. Croft not only served as her primary teacher until college but also facilitated her attendance at the prestigious Meadowmount Summer School in New York. There, Cynthia honed her skills under the tutelage of Margaret Pardee, an assistant to the renowned Ivan Galamian at Julliard, for two years. At 18, she earned a four-year scholarship to Trinity College of Music in London, where she achieved her Performer’s Diploma in 1980.

In 1982, Cynthia joined the BBC Concert Orchestra, quickly rising through the ranks to become Associate Leader in 1987 and ultimately the Leader in 2003, a role she maintained for over a decade. During her tenure, she frequently showcased her talent as a soloist, participating in numerous televised and radio performances, including appearances at the prestigious BBC Proms. A standout moment in her career occurred in 2013 when she delivered a live performance of Vaughan Williams' "The Lark Ascending," which was broadcast to an astonishing audience of over a billion on Chinese State Radio and Television.

Cynthia's versatility has led her to serve as Guest Leader for several prominent orchestras, including the Hallé and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Additionally, she has made significant contributions as a session musician, lending her violin skills to numerous acclaimed TV and film soundtracks.
