With a career spanning more than 35 years, he has established himself as a prominent American actor, producer, and theater artist. After completing high school, Ransom moved to New York City, where he began his artistic journey as an intern at the Ensemble Studio Theater. He played a crucial role in co-founding the Naked Angels theater company alongside notable talents such as Jon Robin Baitz and Lili Taylor, later taking on the role of Artistic Director from 2001 to 2005.

Ransom is widely recognized for his memorable performances, including his portrayal of the mutant Jack in the acclaimed series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1997-1998) and the villainous Frankie Dwyer in Nash Bridges.
