Thijs Römer

Thijs Römer is a Dutch actor known for his work in film and television, but his career has been marred by serious legal issues. Between 2015 and 2017, he was involved in disturbing online conduct with three underage girls, aged 14 to 16. Römer was accused of luring the minors into inappropriate interactions through social media, which included exchanging explicit photos and videos. This led to charges of possessing child pornography.

During the court proceedings, Römer admitted to having "crossed a line" with one of the girls, citing a lack of awareness regarding the implications of their age disparity. He confessed to discussing intimate topics with the victim, which raised significant ethical concerns.

In July 2023, the court sentenced Römer to 240 hours of community service and a 90-day prison term, with the majority of the sentence suspended, along with a one-year probation. Additionally, he is mandated to undergo treatment at De Waag, a mental health institution in the Netherlands.

Before these events, Römer was recognized for his performances and had a notable marriage to actress Katja Schuurman in 2006, with whom he shares a daughter named Sammie. Despite his earlier successes, the legal troubles have significantly impacted his public image and career trajectory.
