Erin Doherty
Erin Rachael Doherty, born on July 16, 1992, is a talented British actress renowned for her portrayal of the young Princess Anne in the acclaimed Netflix series The Crown during its third and fourth seasons, which aired from 2019 to 2020. Her impressive filmography also includes roles in the television drama Chloe (2022), as well as upcoming projects like Reawakening (2024), A Thousand Blows (2025), and Adolescence (2025).
Hailing from Crawley, West Sussex, Erin has Irish roots, with her paternal grandfather originating from Carndonagh in County Donegal, Ireland. After her parents' divorce when she was just four, Erin began nurturing her passion for acting through Sunday drama classes alongside her older sister, Grace.
She attended Hazelwick School in Crawley, where she excelled not only in acting but also in sports. A gifted footballer, Erin played as a midfielder and captained the Crawley Wasps, even attracting interest from Chelsea Women. Ultimately, she faced a pivotal decision between pursuing football or acting and chose to follow her passion for the stage.
Erin refined her craft at the Guildford School of Acting for a year (2011–2012) before continuing her training at the prestigious Bristol Old Vic Theatre School from 2012 to 2015. During her time there, she garnered the Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer of the Year Award (SSSSPOTY) in 2015 for her outstanding performance of "Broadway Baby" from the musical Follies, solidifying her status as an emerging talent in the industry.
